Reporter Girls Basketball: PW clinches share of SOL American title; Haynes, Vizza lead GA to win
Plymouth Whitemarsh 46, Upper Moreland 35 >> Anna McTamney led Plymouth Whitemarsh with 11 points as the Colonials held off Upper Moreland to clinch at least a share of the SOL American Conference title Tuesday night.
Gabby Cooper, Erin Daley and Kaitlyn Flanagan all finished with eight points for PW (19-2, 12-1), which can earn its third outright American title in four seasons with a win at Hatboro-Horsham Thursday.
Bean Hughes scored 15 of her game-high 23 points in the second half for Upper Moreland (11-10, 7-6) while EmmyFaith Wood chipped in nine points.
After PW led 25-16 at the half, the Golden Bears pulled to within 31-25 entering the fourth. The Colonials, however, bested UM 15-10 in the final period.
Germantown Academy 61, Baldwin School 27 >> Twenty-two was the magic number for Germantown Academy as Jaye Haynes and Maddie Vizza both scored 22 points as the Patriots rolled to its 22nd victory in the Inter-Ac contest.
The Patriots (22-4, 10-0 league), who won their fifth straight, pulled away in the second half, outscoring Baldwin 30-8 after leading 31-19 at halftime.
Anajah Brown had a team-high 19 points for Baldwin (8-11, 2-8).
Central Bucks East 67, Pennridge 54 >> Pennridge led 33-26 at halftime but Central Bucks East outscored the Rams 20-12 in the third for a one-point lead then pulled away by taking the fourth 21-9.
Katie Yoder paced Pennridge (11-9, 4-7 SOL Continental) with 18 points. Julia Kreider added 15 points while Emma Pyne had 10 points. CB East finishes its regular season 15-7 (8-4 SOL Continental).
Pennsbury 56, Truman 18 >> Pennsbury picked up its eight consecutive win, taking a 28-7 lead into halftime and rolling to a SOL National victory.
The Falcons (18-3, 10-1 conference) had 11 players record at least a point led by Nicole Pompili’s game-high 11 points. Mary Miller had nine points while Ava Sciolla and Abby Nassivera both finished with eight points.
Hannah Smith’s eight points led Truman (5-16, 1-10).
