Wissahickon topples Springfield Montco for seventh straight win
AMBLER >> Wissahickon started strong and finished stronger.
“We were working on our consistency, keeping it going the whole game,” said the Trojans’ Harrison Williams.
The Trojans put together a complete performance Friday night in a 56-25 victory over Springfield Montco, as the Wiss win streak grew to seven.
“We played well. That’s seven in a row now, since we were able to turn our season around,” Williams said. “We wanna stay on a good run and take it right into the playoffs.”
Many contributors >> Matt Compas had the game high for the Trojans (9-2 SOL American) with 15 points.
Carmen Ostroski had nine points as did D’shan Love.
“It was a good conference win,” said Williams, who played a solid, all-around game for Wiss. “It was a good way to go into next week with Cheltenham and Abington coming up.”
Wiss jumped out to a 16-8 lead in the first and took a 17-point lead into the break.
Defense does it >> The Spartans (1-10 SOL American) had plenty of size down low, including 6-foot-5 forward Ethan Hamilton.
But the Trojans didn’t let Springfield control things inside.
“They present some tough match-up problems,” Trojans coach Kyle Wilson said. “Rebounding and defense in the post had kind of been our achilles heel but tonight we did a good job with that.
“And it allowed us to control the tempo.”
Wiss wants to maintain the same mindset moving forward.
“We go into each week saying let’s try to go 2-0,” Wilson said. “And that’s a good mentality to have when districts start and you’re trying to get to states.”
