ROUNDUP: Academy Park captures Del Val title for seventh straight year
The wins keep coming for the Academy Park girls tennis program.
The Knights secured their 54th consecutive Del Val League dual match victory and sixth straight conference championship with a 4-1 decision over Penn Wood Tuesday at Knight Park.
The deciding match was No. 2 doubles Chanel Geohaghan and Shaniya Robinson cruising to a 6-0, 6-0 victory.
Also for Academy Park, Briyae Jackson’s first win as a No. 1 single was a 6-4, 6-4 final. Akiama Roger won the No. 3 match by default and the Knights’ top doubles pairing of Victoria Scott and Gwyneth Bevans breezed to a 6-0, 6-0 win.
Sallary Thollie was a winner at No. 2 singles for Penn Wood.
In the Catholic League:
Cardinal O’Hara 4, Lansdale Catholic 1 >> Samma Zahran, Caroline Lynch and Clare Hayden ensured a clean sweep in singles action for the Lions, who are 5-0 in the Catholic League. Kyle Seegar and Jordan Graney were triumphant in the No. 2 doubles match.
