Mercury Field Hockey Roundup: Hill School stops nationally-ranked Episcopal Academy
Hill School 3, Episcopal Academy 2 >> Kennedy Cliggett struck for the game-winner for three minutes remaining as Hill knocked off nationally-ranked Episcopal Academy in its season opener Wednesday.
Hill opened up a 2-0 lead as Josephine Palde and Logan Clouser combined twice for goals (goal, assist each). EA, ranked No. 4 in the nation in the preseason, leveled the match with 18 to play but Cliggett gave Hill the decider before Blues goalie Hayley Gable (10 saves) and the defense held off EA down the stretch.
Methacton 6, Boyertown 0 >> Alexa Kratz’s three goals led the Warriors in a lightning-shortened PAC win over the Bears Wednesday.
Other Warrior goals were scored by Liz Chipman (two assists), Bayla Plower (assist) and Madison Noh, all coming in the first half.
Upper Perkiomen 7, Pope John Paul II 1 >> Balanced Upper Perk rolled PJP in a PAC Frontier win Wednesday. UP goals came from Jenna Fiorito, Jess Traynor, Kate Rodenberger, Ashlyn Gatto, Kylene Gooch (two assists), Colleen Creneti and Luci Carpenter. PJP goalie Kristen Miller had 18 saves.
Spring-Ford 12, Norristown 0 >> The Rams scored six in each half in a PAC Liberty rout of the Eagles Wednesday.
Abbey Boyer, Alyssa Mozi, Alexis Collins and Alysia Collins had two goals and an assist each to propel Spring-Ford. Kate Crist had a goal and two assists while Caroline Snyder tallied twice. Other goals were scored by Mackenna Maloney and Emma Friend.
Wilson 7, Upper Perkiomen 1 >> Upper Perk fell to the Bulldogs in a six-goal loss on Tuesday. Cary Eidle recorded 18 saves in goal for Upper Perk.
Colleen Crenti was assisted by Luci Carpenter for UP’s lone goal.
