Mercury Softball Roundup: Hill School edged by Academy of New Church

Ac. of Notre Dame 4, Hill School 3 >> A walk-off run in the bottom of the seventh inning enabled Academy of Notre Dame to register a non-league victory over the Blues in their final regular-season game Wednesday.

Notre Dame scored two runs in the first inning and maintained a 2-0 advantage until the fourth, when Hill cut its deficit to a run. The Blues scored two runs in the top of the sixth to take a 3-2 lead, only to see Notre Dame tie the game in the bottom half of the inning before walking off in the seventh.

Tori Moran went the distance from the circle, allowing two earned runs on 10 hits and striking out two. Moran helped her own cause at the plate, knocking in two of Hill’s three runs and scoring its third. Alexa Giacche had three hits and Amanda Sprague had two hits for Hill.
