Kelleher plays dual successful roles in Fords win
Dan Kelleher did everything as Haverford topped Penncrest, 13-9, in Central League baseball action Thursday.
Kelleher went 1-for-3 at the plate with three RBIs and one run scored. He also came out of the bullpen and pitched two scoreless innings in relief with five strikeouts to secure the win for the Fords. Matteo Gonzalez was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and one RBI. Will Higson went 2-for-4 with three runs scored and one RBI.
August Guerreri drove in three runs, and Dylan Bittle (RBI), Dan Wood, Joe Brown (RBI) and Kellen Davis pitched in with two hits each for the Lions.
In the Catholic League:
Bonner & Prendergast 10, Bishop McDevitt 3 >> Johnny DeMucci drilled a solo homer and Matt Shepherd slugged a two-run double for the Friars.
In the Bicentennial League:
Delco Christian 8, Faith Christian 3 >> The Knights scored six times in the last three innings to break the game open. Brett Tanis had a double and Robert Lucas was the winning pitcher.
Plumstead Christian 13, Christian Academy 3 >> Plumstead tallied 12 of its runs in the second and third innings.
Luke Dutton was 3-for-3 with one RBI and one run scored for the Crusaders. Evan Sareyka collected two hits and one run scored and Luke Sareyka added one hit and one RBI.
In the Del Val League:
Interboro 16, Chester 1 >> Jake Finley knocked in two runs and Braheim Fowler allowed three hits and fanned six in three innings to get the win. Nate Smith pitched in with two hits for the Bucs.
In the Ches-Mont League:
Great Valley 8, Sun Valley 2 >> The Vanguards were unable to climb out of a 5-1 hole after three innings. Ryan Kester went 2-for-3 with one RBI and one run scored. Camren Johnson also was 2-for-3 with a ribbie and Jack Youhouse had a double and a run scored.
In nonleague action:
Haverford School 12, Westtown 8 >> The Fords scored four runs in each of the first three innings and held on the W in their regular-season finale.
Zak Summy led the way for the Fords with two hits and four RBIs. Logan Keller (two hits, two RBIs) and Jesse Goldman (two hits, home run, two RBIs) also came up big at the plate. Eric Hoyt allowed three hits and one earned run to get the win.
