Delco Girls Lacrosse Roundup: Defense leads Carroll in rout of O’Hara
Archbishop Carroll’s defense clamped down to power the Patriots to an 18-5 Catholic League victory over Cardinal O’Hara.
Carroll held O’Hara scoreless in the second half to clinch the regular-season title and the top seed for the league playoffs. Goalie Julia Dellaratta played a big part in that defensive effort with 13 saves.
Amber Germer did most of the damage on offense with five goals and four assists. Kiley Mottice added three goals and three assists. Kellie Anne Matey and Madison Henry also had hat tricks for the Patriots (13-3 overall, 10-0 Catholic League).
Rachel Familetti scored twice and goalie Jackie Deuber-Peterson made 16 saves for the Lions (9-1 ), who will be the No. 2 seed in the league tournament.
In the Central League:
Springfield 9, Conestoga 7 >> Dana Mirigliano stood tall in goal with eight saves and three ground balls for the Cougars.
Alyssa Long paced the offense with four goals. Belle Mastropietro and Meghan Cull pitched in with two goals apiece.
Garnet Valley 18, Penncrest 4 >> The Jaguars put 12 goals on the board in the first half. Madi McKee led the way with six scores. She also had three ground balls and two draw controls. Liv Brenner pitched in with three goals and one assist. Kara Nealon (two assists), Sydney Pyon and Kathryn Toohey posted two goals each.
Radnor 17, Upper Darby 4 >> Tori DiCarlo racked up five goals, three assists, five draw controls, two ground balls and one caused turnover to pace the Raiders. Ellie Mueller posted three goals, three assists, four draw controls and two caused turnovers.
Gabby Liberio tallied twice for the Royals.
Haverford 19, Lower Merion 6 >> Mia Ciancio poured in nine goals to go with six draw controls and three ground balls for the Fords. Willa Hetznecker pitched in with three goals, one assist and five draw controls. Carly Gannon and Abby Rowland added two goals each.
In the Inter-Ac League:
Notre Dame 13, Baldwin 3 >> Maggie O’Brien did it all for the Irish. She scored twice, handed out four assists, picked up three ground balls, controlled two draws and caused a turnover. Clair Gola also came up big with three goals, three ground balls, two draw controls and two caused turnovers.
Episcopal Academy 14, Springside Chestnut Hill 6 >> Caroline Burt had six goals and one assist, and Olivia Dirks contributed four goals and 10 draw controls for the Churchwomen.
In the Del Val League:
Academy Park 16, Penn Wood 8 >> Seidra Senessie set the offensive tone for the Knights with four goals and one assist. Shayna Flory contributed three goals and two assists, while Alicia Matthews added three goals and one assist.
Eshe Henry paced Penn Wood with three goals. Tahlib Merritt tallied twice and Cynia Jones had one goal and two assists.
In the Bicentennial League:
Jenkintown 14, Delco Christian 2 >> Brooke VanEerden had one goal, three ground balls and one draw control for the Knights. Maddy Vavala had the other goal to go with two ground balls and one draw control.
In the Ches-Mont League:
Oxford 18, Sun Valley 13 >> The Hornets scored 13 times in the second half to erase a 7-5 deficit.
Abby Seasock led Sun Valley with four goals and two assists. Carli Komorowski added three goals and two assists. Alicea Whitfield (one assist) and Tali Caroitenuto had hat tricks for the Vanguards.
In nonleague action:
Bonner & Prendergast 19, Sacred Heart 9 >> Lindsay Fagan tallied nine goals, scooped up six ground balls and had 10 draw controls to pace the Pandas. Maeve Finnegan added five goals, two assists and six ground balls.
Julia Flood led the Lions with four goals.
