Mignucci’s catch of the ages seals Haverford School win
They’ll be talking about Matt Mignucci’s catch around The Haverford School for a little while. If there’s any video, it could end up on SportsCenter.
The Fords right fielder made a leaping catch with the bases loaded and two outs in the top of the seventh inning to secure a 12-9 Inter-Ac League victory over Penn Charter.
Haverford School battled back from a 5-1 deficit. Joe Bonini led the comeback with three hits and two RBIs. Jacob Stacey drove in three runs and Eric Genther and Logan Keller pitched in with two RBIs apiece. Ryan Reed came out of the bullpen and fanned six in 4.2 innings of relief to get the win.
In the Bicentennial League:
Delco Christian 15, Christian Academy 5 >> Brett Tanis had quite the day to help the Knights invoke the mercy rule. He went 4-for-4 with four RBIs and four stolen bases.
Penn Schmidt was 3-for-4 with a pair of RBIs. Robert Lucas allowed no hits and fanned six in 3.2 innings out of the bullpen to get the win. He also drove in three runs.
Luke Dutton had two hits and one run scored and Evan Sareyka added two hits and one RBI for TCA.
In the Central League:
Conestoga 6, Upper Darby 0 >> Cam Marcus and Riley Desheller combined on a two-hit shutout for the Pioneers. Marcus allowed two hits and fanned six in six innings to get the win.
Hunter Youngblood and Pat McCloskey had the hits for Upper Darby.
