Reporter Baseball Roundup: Drelick, Valenti help North Penn top CB South
Jake Drelick led off the bottom of the first inning with a home run and Joe Valenti allowed just two hits in a complete-game effort as the North Penn baseball team defeated visiting Central Bucks South 6-1 for its second straight win.
Drelick finished 2-for-4 with an RBI and run scored while Kolby Barrow went 2-for-3 with a double and run scored for the Knights (4-5, 2-3 SOL Continental), who pulled away by scoring the game’s last four runs in the fifth.
Connor Ertel was 2-for-3 with a run scored with Kyle Schulze had two runs scored. Valenti struck out nine, walk one in giving up one earned run.
CB South (4-4, 3-2), which lost its third straight, scored its lone run in the top of the fourth on Bryan Rossi’s RBI ground out.
Hatboro-Horsham 7, Abington 2 >> Jake Bianchini and Anthony Bruno both collected a pair of hits as Hatboro-Horsham built a 6-1 lead after three innings in claiming its second-straight win in the SOL American contest.
Bianchini was 2-for-3 and scored two runs, Bruno went 2-for-2 while Benny Wilson collected two RBIs for the Hatters (8-2, 5-1 conference).
Jackson Treski went six innings in earning the victory on the mound, allowing two runs — both unearned — on three hits, walked two and struck out seven. Ram Krishnamoorthy scored twice and also pitched a scoreless seventh inning.
Hatboro-Horsham scored two runs in the bottom of the first before Abington (2-8, 1-6) made it 2-1 with a run in the top of the second. The Hatters, however, went up 3-1 in the bottom of the second, plated three in the third then tacked on one more in the fifth to go up 7-1.
