Mercury Track Roundup: Burress, Smallwood help Pottstown boys stay unbeaten
Pottstown 83, Upper Merion 57 >> Robert Burress scored three firsts to lead the Trojans to victory over the Vikings in their PAC Frontier Division meet.
Burress swept the 300 intermediate and 110 high hurdles while also topping the high jump. Darius Smallwood added another pair of victories in the 1,600 and 800 as Pottstown retained its unbeaten (3-0) run and held onto first place in the Frontier ranks.
Pottsgrove 87, Upper Perkiomen 63 >> Laree Hills won two individual events for the Falcons to key their PAC Frontier Division meet with the Indians.
Hills got his firsts in the 300 intermediate hurdles and 800. UP’s big performer was Tyrese Reid, with firsts in the 100, 200 and long jump; Chalmers Stroup also gave the Tribe firsts in the discus and javelin.
Perkiomen Valley 95, Methacton 55 >> Jason Wagner swept the throwing events to help the Vikings outrun the Warriors in their PAC Liberty Division meet.
Wagner’s firsts in the shot put, discus and javelin were complemented by teammate Cole Peterlin (110 high hurdles, high jump).
Owen J. Roberts 107, Norristown 43 >> Aidan Hayward’s first in two throwing events highlighted the Wildcats’ showing in their PAC Liberty Division meet with the Eagles.
Hayward headed the shot put and discus to underscore OJR’s strong (49-14) performance in the field. A star for Norristown was Austin Montgomery, who won the 100 and 200.

Upper Merion 103, Pottstown 46 >> Veronica Sanchez, Jada Peoples and Isabella Legrendre were double-event winners for the Vikings in their PAC Frontier Division meet with the Trojans.
Sanchez dominated the distance races with her firsts in the 1,600 and 3,200, Peoples led the way in sprints by winning the 100 and 200, and Legrendre headed the shot put and javelin. Pottstown got individual firsts from Bryonna Chimbinja in the 300 hurdles, Amari Folly in the 100 hurdles, Zoe Earle in the high jump, Juliana Figueroa in the pole vault and Niashi Elliott-Moore in the discus.
Pottsgrove 104.5, Upper Perkiomen 45.5 >> Janiya Jones figured in on four wins for the Falcons in their PAC Frontier Division meet with the Indians.
Jones took the 100, 200 and long jump in addition to running the anchor leg on Pottstown’s winning 4×100 relay. Nevada Grant gave Pottsgrove another pair of firsts in the high and triple jumps, and Anna Kastelein and Nicole Bain cut into Pottsgrove’s 46.5-16.5 scoring edge in the field with their respective victories in the javelin and pole vault.
Methacton 76, Perkiomen Valley 74 >> The Warriors survived Christina Warren’s four-win day for the Vikings, their point edge on the track helping them to the narrow PAC Liberty Division win.
Firsts by Juliana Keenan (300 hurdles), Kate Evans (100), Shannon O’Brien (400) and its 4×100 and 4×400 relay teams helped Methacton to a 51-36 point advantage in running events. For PV, Warren took the 100 hurdles, 200, long jump and triple jump while Delaney O’Sullivan won the 1,600 and 800.
Owen J. Roberts 123, Norristown 27 >> Brinley Beveridge swept the jumping events to lead the Wildcats in their PAC Liberty Division roll over the Eagles.
Beveridge’s wins in the high, long and triple jumps was complemented by Erin Hendershot winning the discus and javelin throws, and Charley Lustig dominating the distance races with her firsts in the 1,600 and 3,200.
