Reporter Girls Basketball Roundup: Abington Friends snaps Jenkintown’s 36-game win streak
Kendall Hodges led the Abington Friends girls basketball team with 16 points and also made four steals as the Kangaroos ended Jenkintown’s 36-game win streak with a 46-45 non-league victory over the host Drakes Wednesday.
Mihjae Hayes finished with 12 points, six rebounds, five assists and three steals for AFS (18-5, 7-1 Friends Schools League), who won their 11th straight.
Jenkintown (19-1, 10-0 BAL Constitution) last lost Jan. 24, 2018 to Souderton 57-35. The Drakes proceeded to win their last 17 games of the 2018 season en route to District 1 and PIAA Class A championships.
Lansdale Catholic 60, St. Hubert 33 >> Timaya Lewis-Eutsey and Emily Smith both scored 12 points as Lansdale Catholic rolled to its second straight win.
Riley DeVitis added 11 points for the Crusaders (13-7, 5-5 PCL).
Upper Dublin 45, Upper Moreland 28 >> Dayna Balasa connected on five 3-pointers in scoring a game-high 19 points as Upper Dublin rolled past Upper Dublin to keep pace with Abington for first place in the SOL American Conference.
Jackie Vargas added 10 points for the Cardinals (15-3, 10-1 conference), who led 24-10 at halftime. Bean Hughes had 12 to pace Upper Moreland (12-6, 6-5), which had a two-game win streak snapped.
