Puskovitch’s double win pushes Episcopal to long-awaited Inter-Ac title
With a first Inter-Ac title in 49 years on the line, Episcopal Academy’s boys squad left no doubt Tuesday.
Ivan Puskovitch won two events, besting his Delaware County record in the 500 freestyle for the second time this season in steering EA to a 100-81 win and a coveted league crown.
Puskovitch won the 200 individual medley before clocking in at 4:24.75 in the 500 free, besting the school mark of 4:26.30 he set 12 days ago.
Sam Wesley won the 100 and 200 free. Cole Whitsett claimed the 50 free and 100 butterfly. Jack Christian won the 100 backstroke and Vlad Puskovitch was the top scorer in diving for EA.
Also in the Inter-Ac:
Haverford School 93, Penn Charter 70 >>> Antonio Octaviano won the 50 free, 100 fly and swam a leg on the winning medley relay as the Fords grabbed their first league win of the season. JR Leitz (100 free) and Brian Brennan (200 free) augmented their medley relay wins with individual triumphs. Jack Deppen claimed the 200 IM, Jason Chen was first in the 100 breast, Zach Sumner won the 500 free and Mickey Fairorth claimed diving.
In the Central League:
Haverford 95, Ridley 90 >> Jon Meyer won the 100 free and 200 free, and led off the victorious 200 free relay and clinching 400 free relay to steer the Fords to a win. David Abrahams won the 200 IM and 100 breast for the Fords.
Ridley’s Alex Boeckx claimed the 50 free and 100 back for the Fords, which got a boost when Mason Beck outpointed Dean Carson in diving.
In nonleague action:
Sun Valley 97.5, Glen Mills 60.5 >> Nick Fursman won the 200 free and 100 breast, and Andrew Cerami claimed the 100 free and 100 back in a Vanguards romp.
Girls Swimming
Grace Myers won the 200 IM, 100 free and anchored the winning 200 medley relay as Haverford topped Ridley, 103-78, in the Central League.
Brooke Jamieson won the 100 back and led off that winning medley relay.
Leah Rechner won the 100 breast for Ridley, which also got points form Meghan Lynch in a diving 1-2.
In the Inter-Ac League:
Episcopal Academy 98, Germantown Academy 88 >> Kelly Mekoue swept the sprint events, and Emma Lunn (200 free) and Chelsey Liu (100 fly) each paired an individual win around teaming up with Mekoue on the 200 free relay to guide EA to victory.
Hadley DeBruyn claimed the 500 free, and Kat Harrar was tops in diving.
