Reporter Boys Basketball Roundup: Quakertown outlasts Souderton in overtime
The Souderton boys basketball team rallied in the fourth quarter to force overtime, but host Quakertown outscored the Indians 7-1 in the extra period to earn its second straight win, 63-57 in Tuesday night’s Suburban One League Continental Conference matchup.
Eli Ortiz led all scored with 24 points for the Panthers (4-9, 2-4) while Bobby Rosenberger added 14 points.
Zach Thatcher’s 12 points paced Souderton (4-11, 1-5), which outscored Quakertown 13-7 in the fourth to pull level at 56 at the end of 32 minutes. Mekhi Williams finished with 10 points for Big Red.
Upper Dublin 43, Springfield-Montco 37 >> Upper Dublin led 24-12 at halftime then held off Springfield in the second half to claim its third win in a row.
Drew Stover scored 11 points for the Cardinals (9-5, 3-4 SOL American). Jordan Pauls and Ben Rittenhouse both finished with eight points to pace the Spartans (5-8, 1-6).
Germantown Academy 65, Penn Charter 51 >> Jordan Longino had a game-high 20 points as Germantown Academy took control in the third quarter and earned its first Inter-Ac victory.
Brian Basile scored 12 points while Zachary Anderson chipped in 11 points for the Patriots (8-7, 1-3), who trailed 28-27 at the half before outscoring the Quakers 17-9 in the third.
Ryan Holmes and Dylan Topaz each had 12 points to lead Penn Charter (9-7, 1-3) while Mark Butler added 11 points.
Jenkintown 63, MaST Charter 52 >> Adam Giammanco registered 19 points as Jenkintown took the second quarter 20-8 to open up a 31-19 halftime lead in snapping a five-game losing streak with a win over host MaST Charter.
Trevor Brockwell and Hunter Jackon both finished with 16 points for the Drakes (3-9, 0-7 BAL Constitution).
Alex Sanchez scored a game-high 21 points for MaST (2-13, 0-0 BAL Independence). Kevin Henehan had 14 points while Lance Farlow added 11 points for the Panthers.
