Forrester leads Upper Darby past Academy Park
A hot-shooting Jasmine Forrester helped carry the Upper Darby girls basketball team to a 79-50 nonleague victory over Academy Park in girls basketball action Saturday.
Forrester sank four 3-point field goals and was 9-for-10 at the free-throw line en route to a game-high 29 points. The junior guard also grabbed six rebounds.
The Royals (8-3) also received double-digit scoring performances by Natalie Koskinas (14 points, six rebounds) and Gabby Liberio (10 points, four assists). Aubrey Ennis chipped in with nine points and five assists, while Angelina Koskinas finished with seven points and six rebounds. Sara Sullivan contributed six points and seven rebounds for the Royals, who scored 28 points in the third quarter and shot 18-for-22 at the foul line.
Taylor Smith poured in 18 points and Taylor Flores scored 17 points for the Knights.
In other nonleague action:
Chester 58, Truman 49 >> The Clippers won their third in a row behind a double-double from Quinshana Hagwood, who scored 13 points and hauled in 16 rebounds. Iesha Williams (13 points) and Shay’moni DeShields (12) also scored in double digits. Monique Colbert added nine points and 13 boards.
Henderson 51, Penncrest 31 >> The Lions trailed 18-4 at the end of the first quarter and couldn’t bounce back. Kylie Chelo was the team’s leading scorer with nine points, while Alexis Calloway had seven.
In the Catholic League:
Cardinal O’Hara 38, Archbishop Wood 35 >> In a game Friday night, the visiting Lions overcame a 13-5 deficit at the end of the first quarter to defeat the Vikings. O’Hara took the lead for good with a 15-5 run in the third period. Amaris Baker and Sydni Scott scored 13 and 12 points, respectively, while Siobhan Boylan chipped in with six.
