Presenting 2018 All-Main Line girls tennis teams
The Main Line high school girls’ tennis scene last fall featured, as always, a strong lineup of championship-caliber teams, led by two unbeaten teams, Harriton and Episcopal Academy.
Harriton (20-0) captured the PIAA Class 3A state team title. Episcopal Academy (15-0) captured both the Inter-Ac title and the Inter-Ac tournament championship.
A match was scheduled before the season between these two squads; unfortunately, the contest was cancelled later in the fall.
In the Central League, other strong teams included Conestoga (19-3), which advanced to the PIAA 3A state championship final; Radnor (13-3) and Lower Merion (9-6).
In the Inter-Ac, Baldwin School posted a 5-1 league record, and Agnes Irwin was 4-2.
In the Friends’ Schools League, Friends’ Central (11-4) and Shipley (10-3) both enjoyed fine seasons; and in the AACA, Merion Mercy Academy (13-3) finished third.
The All-Main Line high school girls’ tennis teams are selected by the coaches. Because Main Line Media News covers 19 high schools, the Main Line Media News sports staff limits the number of spots available to first team, second team and honorable mention — but follows the priority of coaches’ selections.
