Delco Girls Basketball Roundup: McGurk scores her 1,000th point for Notre Dame
Mandy McGurk scored her 1,000th career point in the first quarter of Notre Dame’s 54-33 Inter-Ac League victory over Baldwin School.
McGurk reached the milestone at the free-throw line.
The All-Delco guard led all Irish (7-4) players with 19 points, while Maggie Pina contributed 10 points.
Episcopal Academy 46, SCHA 27 >> Raeleen Keffer-Scharpf did most of her damage in the third quarter for the Churchwomen (4-8, 2-0), grabbing five rebounds and scoring six of her game-high 14 points. Olivia Dirks added nine points and Cara Harty finished with seven.
Former Little League baseball hero Mo’ne Davis scored eight points for SCHA.
In the Bicentennial League:
Christian Academy 50, Delco Christian 29 >> Grace Gormley’s career high 32 points propelled the Crusaders (7-2, 2-2) over the Knights. Gormley also registered 11 rebounds and 10 steals for a triple-double.
Monica Lebaudy paced DC with 14 points.
In the Catholic League:
Archbishop Carroll 43, Archbishop Wood 33 >> Freshman Grace O’Neill scored 23 points, including an 11-for-17 effort at the charity stripe, as the Patriots (6-4, 3-1) picked up a big Catholic League victory over the Vikings. Mary DeSimone tallied 10 points and Harlem Jennings tossed seven.
In nonleague action:
Chester Charter SA 52, Sun Valley 29 >> Logan Handy dumped in 23 points and D’Ayzha Atkinson tallied 14 points and 15 rebounds to lead Chester Charter to its eighth win. Ceyrah Williams added eight points, eight rebounds, six assists, four blocks and a pair of steals.
Erin Michael and Maya Morris led the Vanguards with nine points apiece.
