Reporter Girls Volleyball Roundup: Pennridge outlasts North Penn in five
The North Penn and Pennridge girls volleyball teams needed two hours and two minutes and five sets to decide their Suburban One League American Conference match Thursday and in the end the visiting Rams rallied for the 3-2 (25-17, 18-25, 23-25, 26-24, 15-7) win over the Knights.
“Unfortunately we had multiple injuries tonight but that gave other players a chance to step in and step up,” North Penn coach Scott Coles said. “The team grew tonight and battled the entire time. I’m encouraged by our gutsy performance even in the loss.”
For North Penn, Francesca Dolan had 21 digs, two aces and a 2.09 passing ratting while Alycia Powers finished with seven kills, eight assists, seven aces and six digs. Morgan Patterson and Natalie Wernly put down nine and seven kills, respectively for the Knights. Ali Walter had three aces with Erin Boland coming up with a pair of blocks.
Plymouth Whitemarsh 3, Souderton 0 >> Gillian Conner collected 15 digs, seven kills and an ace, Lily Acquaviva recorded 10 digs, eights kills and an ace and Plymouth Whitemarsh picked up a 25-19, 25-16-25-19 SOL American win over Souderton.
Sydney Melillo dished out 20 assists while Sophia Repholz had 12 digs and four assists for the Colonials. PW’s Megan Peuser posted eight kills, three blocks and two digs with Allison Helferty adding eight kills, two blocks and two aces.
Central Bucks West 3, Council Rock North 2 >> Mackenzie Brooks finished with 19 digs, 11 kills and seven aces while Amanda Mass had 17 kills and a block as Central Bucks West rallied from a set down to claim a 25-23, 20-25, 12-25, 25-15, 15-10 SOL National victory over Council Rock North.
Maggie Winderman had 18 digs and an assist for the Bucks. Ana Claricurzio handed out 35 assists to go along with 12 digs, four kills and an ace, Magda Videva posted four kills and three digs while Naomi Wood had five blocks, three kills and two digs.
William Tennent 3, Bensalem 0 >> Grace Marsland and Chiara Ciccone both had five aces as William Tennent swept Bensalem for an SOL National win.
