Mercury Girls Tennis Roundup: OJ Roberts edges Perkiomen Valley

Owen J. Roberts 4, Perkiomen Valley 3 >> A sweep of the singles bracket set the stage for the Wildcats’ narrow PAC victory over the Vikings Thursday

Cara Semach had the best individual showing for Owen J. a 6-1, 6-0 win at third singles. The difference for the ‘Cats was the fourth-doubles team of Jordan Sylvia and Jackie McGee coming back from an opening-set loss to score the deciding point.

Spring-Ford 7, Pottstown 0 >> Emma Griffin didn’t drop a game at second singles to key the Rams’ PAC victory over the Trojans.

Phoenixville 7, Pottsgrove 0 >> The Phantoms dropped just one game in singles play as they blanked the Falcons in their PAC match.

Julia Gumieniak and Gina Brown both went 6-0, 6-0 at first and second singles, respectively. Pottsgrove’s best individual showing was at first doubles, where Grace Myers and Samme Marazas forced a tiebreaker in the second set.

Pope John Paul II 5, Upper Merion 2 >> Winning three of four doubles matches secured for the Golden Panthers a PAC victory over the Vikings.

PJP’s best individual effort came at first singles, where Veronica Marinari won 6-0, 6-1. UM got its points from Jailey Kozuchowski at third singles and the second-doubles team of Grace Donohue and Madalyn Harvey.

Daniel Boone 6, Antietam 1 >> A sweep of the singles bracket proved big for the Blazers in their Berks Conference win over Antietam.

Boone’s best individual effort came from Rachel Haag, who won at third singles 6-3, 6-0.

Perkiomen School 4, Barrack Hebrew 1 >> A sweep of the singles bracket keyed the Panthers’ Tri-County League victory over Barrack Hebrew.

Julia Kelly and Kate Galant each lost just one game in their respective wins at first and third singles. Barrack got its point from the second-doubles team of Anita Hoffman and Sophie Levin.
