Mercury Cross Country Roundup: Upper Perk outruns Pottsgrove
Upper Perkiomen 25, Pottsgrove 31 >> Race winner Gabe Pitcher led the Indian boys to a tight PAC win over the Falcons Wednesday.
Pitcher won in 18:35, followed by Pottsgrove’s Bryce Hampton (18:41) and Simon Keen (18:44) in second and third. Upper Perk went 4-6 through Brandon Conklin (18:53), Lance Templeton (19:04) and Donnie Miller (19:06).
Owen J. Roberts 18, Norristown 42 >> David Brunton led a tight pack that underscored the Wildcats’ win over the Eagles in their PAC Liberty Division race.
Brunton’s 18:36 clocking was one second better than freshman teammate Thomas Damiani’s 18:37. Andrea Cambiati, Matt Kwiatkowski and Andrew Lagreca went 4-5-6 around Norristown’s Ricardo Moreno, third in 19:15.
Girls cross country
Pottsgrove 21, Upper Perkiomen 37 >> Naomi Hillen was the runaway race winner to lead the Falcons to a PAC victory. Hillen finished in 23:00, 44 seconds ahead of second-place Calista Faust of Pottsgrove (23:44).
Upper Perk placed third and fourth through Serena Detweiler (23:48) and Alex Banner (23:51) while Pottsgrove took the next four spots thanks to Molly Neeson (24:20), Chloe Sullivan (24:25), Amie Wildermuth (24:45) and Angelia Hollinger (25:25).
Owen J. Roberts 15, Norristown 50 >> Hannah Pugh headed a seven-runner pack that set the tone for the Wildcats’ PAC Liberty Division romp over the Eagles.
Pugh covered her home course in 24:08, three seconds ahead of teammates Emily Glasier and Charley Lustig. Ali Avello-Lango, Bridget DiCesare, Jeanne Tokay and Grace Kratz completed the OJR pack.
