Mercury Cross Country Roundup: Boone girls maintain winning run
They’ve been running at a torrid pace this season.
And the Daniel Boone girls cross country team didn’t slow up a bit Tuesday. The Blazers again led the way as they swept a four-school Berks Conference meet that included Conrad Weiser, Fleetwood and Berks Catholic.
Boone scored decisive wins over the Scouts (18-41), the Tigers (16-47) and the Saints (19-36) to run its season record to 9-0.
Carlina Davis headed a 1-2-3-4 finish by Boone, covering the Berks Catholic course in 22:22 ahead of second-place Vivian Kase (22:28) and third-place Ashley Benoit (22:35). Hannah Santos followed in fourth at 22:43.
Also placing in the Top 15 for the Blazers were Maggie Nygard and Olivia Poore, placing a respective 13th and 15th.
Boys cross country
Perkiomen Valley 25, Methacton 30 >> Tyler Clifford scored individual race honors for the Vikings as they outran the Warriors in their PAC Liberty Division meet.
Clifford crossed the line ahead of Varghese and Tommy Chimes for Methacton. Dylan Danowski and Riley Milligan added a 4-5 run for PV.
Blazers go 1-2 >> Alex Pingitore gave Daniel Boone the individual victory in a four-school Berks Conference meet that included Conrad Weiser, Fleetwood and Berks Catholic. The Blazers outran the Saints 19-41 but lost to the Scouts (26-30) and the Tigers (24-31).
Pingitore covered the course in 18:22, running away from CW leaders Alfonso Knoll (18:55) and Jay Thompson (18:59). Max Stefanelli came in eighth for Boone, with Cory Miller 11th.
