Malvern Prep duo to compete in New Balance National Track & Field Championships
Two Malvern Prep athletes, junior David Bolles and sophomore Sebastian Costantini, will compete in the New Balance National High School Track & Field Championships in Greensboro, N.C. June 17-18.
They are the third and fourth Malvern athletes in the history of the school to compete in this national competition meet and the first-ever Malvern Friars to compete in the decathlon. Only 20 athletes from around the country are accepted into the decathlon championships.
“This is a huge deal for the [Malvern] track team,” said Malvern Prep track & field head coach Mike Koenig.
Both athletes have been training for months and have been breaking personal and Malvern records all season. This past winter, Costantini was the only Malvern Friar to compete in the Pennsylvania Indoor State Championships, and the only sophomore in the state of Pennsylvania to qualify.
Costantini and Bolles also are teammates on the Malvern Prep varsity football team.
