Malvern Prep crew wins medals at SRAA Nationals
Malvern Prep had 14 rowers in five boats participate in the Scholastic Rowing Association of America (SRAA) Nationals on the Cooper River, and all Malvern boats won a medal.
In the boys Lightweight 2X event, JV double event, the duo of Pat Keenan and Sean Ward won bronze finishing 3.2 seconds behind second place North Allegheny.
In the boys JV 2X, Ben Mankowski and AJ Wirtel finished a close third, .40 seconds behind second place Christian Brothers (N.Y.)
The Freshman 4x, consisting of CK Mao, Aidan Gallagher, Jason Kennedy and Edmund Park claiming bronze, eight seconds behind second place Haddon Township.
In the Senior 2X event, the duo of Christian Franck and Andre Quintilianti struck silver, 4.1 seconds behind first place Shenendehowa.
The day ended for Malvern with another championship level performance from the senior 4x of Johnny McGlinn, Drew Brady, Casey Lauder and Walter Koch bringing home the gold medal and National Championship, 2.9 seconds ahead of second place Haddon Township.
