Upper Perkiomen clinches Frontier; Pope John Paul II defeats Pottstown
The Upper Perkiomen softball team clinched a spot in the Pioneer Athletic Conference’s Final Four with an 8-1 win over Phoenixville Tuesday.
Taylor Lindsay swung the big bat for the Indians, going 3-for-3 with four RBIs leading the team to the Frontier Division crown. Alyssa Sullivan added two RBI with Karlee Fretz adding two hits and an RBI in the win.
Phoenixville got two hits apiece from Jess Anthony, Jess Eldridge and Katie Rutledge.
Fretz got the win in the circle, tossing all seven innings while scattering eight hits and striking out five.
Pope John Paul II 21, Pottstown 4 >> The Golden Panthers pounded out 20 hits en route to a win over the Trojans in five innings.
Gabby Simms, Alex Szpindor (three RBI) and Ashley Remington (three RBI) led PJP with three hits apiece while Maria Cotellese and Faith Heyser also got it done at the dish, both going 2-for-2 with three RBI in the win. Madison Dunn got the win in the circle, tossing two innings while allowing one hit and striking out one.
Gianna Epps tripled for Pottstown.
