Pottsgrove rallies late to down Upper Merion, 5-3
Pottsgrove’s baseball team crossed three runs in the top of the seventh inning Wednesday afternoon to claim a 5-3 Pioneer Athletic Conference Frontier Division win over Upper Merion.
Adam Girafalco (triple), Colin Templin (two RBIs), Alex Stump and Nick DeCurtis (two RBIs) each had multi-hit games as Pottsgrove racked up 10 hits. Noah Rimel picked up the win in relief, limiting UM to one run on four hits in 3-2/3 innings of work.
Mike Hutchinson was strong over the first six innings for Upper Merion, limiting Pottsgrove to five hits and two runs (one earned). Jonathan Eyer had a double and Matt Choi had a triple.
Phoenixville 4, Upper Perkiomen 0 >> Matt Osisek-Byrne delivered six shutout innings during the Phantoms’ PAC Frontier Division win over the Tribe.
Osisek-Byrne allowed two hits and struck out eight before Quinn Danna came on to close it out in the seventh. Phoenixville racked up just six hits offensively with Kevin Cushing posting two hits and Colton Brown finished with three RBI. Robert Lynch delivered three hitless innings in relief for UP.
Boyertown 2, Methacton 0 >> Mike Xanthopoulos threw a two-hitter and the Bears scored their runs in the sixth inning to secure a PAC Liberty Division victory over the Warriors.
Xanthopoulos yielded just one walk while fanning nine in his pitching duel with Ben Christian (six hits, one earned run, two walks, eight strikeouts). Mitchell Peers drove in one of Boyertown’s runs, and Quinn Mason and Anthony Rota each went 2-for-3 as the game’s lone players to collect multiple hits.
Spring-Ford 11, Norristown 1 >> The Rams used a by-committee approach to claim a PAC Liberty Division win over the Eagles.
Grant Calvarese, Cole Webb and Conor Larkin combined for a no-hitter in the win.
