Everybody hits as Pennsbury powers past Plymouth-Whitemarsh
FAIRLESS HILLS – Pennsbury senior Ryan McCarty went 3-3 with a home run, a triple, three runs scored and four RBI as the Falcons picked up their second win of the day in an 18-8 thrashing of Plymouth-Whitemarsh.
Pennsbury junior Zach DeMarchis went 4-for-4 with a double, a pair of runs scored and 3 RBI. Sophomore Justin Massielo hit 2-for-4 with an RBI and five runs scored. Senior Dave Murphy went 2-for-3 with a pair of RBI and junior Jake Martell was 1-for-1 with a double.
Dear, Billy Bethel, Nick Price and Alex Ritter added hits to the Falcons’ cause as junior righthander Kyle Dear earned his first varsity win.
Senior Justin Ward and Price combined for a two-hit, 2-0 shutout win at Abington (2-6, 0-4), propelling Pennsbury to a win in the first game of an away-and-home doubleheader. Senior Tyrone Hodges scored on a fielder’s choice in the fourth inning then sent Bethel home with a sac-fly in the fifth.
The Falcons are now 6-2, 3-0 in the Suburban One League (SOL) National Conference.
Pennsbury will host Neshaminy (3-0: SOL) in a key conference matchup on Tuesday, April 18 and Council Rock North (2-1: SOL) will travel to Abington.
