Girls Lacrosse: McNeely nets 100th as Strath Haven mauls Marple Newtown
Nicole McNeely scored twice to reach 100 goals for her career as Strath Haven defeated Marple Newtown, 14-2, Thursday in Central League girls lacrosse action.
McNeely was one of nine Panthers to find the back of the net, with Sophie Haase leading the way with four. Haven ran out to an 11-2 halftime lead and cruised from there.
Kristen Rutecki and Katie Nunan scored for the Tigers.
Elsewhere in the Central League:
Garnet Valley 15, Haverford High 5 >> The Jaguars spread the wealth on offense, with seven players accounting for the 15 goals. Abby Kalish led the way with three while Riley Delaney, Madi McKee, Kamryn McNeal, Kara Nealon and Regan Nealon had two each. Not to be outdone, goalie Lauren Kinnee made 14 saves for Garnet. On the other side, Lydia Hetznecker had a fine game in defeat, scoring four goals for the Fords.
In the Del Val League:
Interboro 9, Academy Park 3 >> Experience and youth both made their mark in the Bucs’ victory. Freshman Morgan Reed and senior Madison Hengey each contributed two goals and two assists to the Interboro cause. Hengey’s fellow senior Moriah Marr was strong in goal as well, making 10 saves.
Riley Street was the only Knight to beat Marr. Terae Mason made 11 saves in the loss.
In the Ches-Mont League:
Kennett 23, Sun Valley 2 >> Alexis Colasante made a valiant effort in goal for the Vanguards, seeing 34 shots and turning away 11. But she was beaten by a strong Blue Demons attack led by Jen Schaen (four goals) and Vicky Gallivan (three goals, two assists). Liz Johnson and Makenzie McGinnis each scored for Sun Valley, with Johnson controlling five draws and McGinnis three.
