Malvern Prep rowers open season in winning form
The Malvern Prep rowing team started its spring season March 26 at the 2nd Manny Flick Regatta on the Schuylkill River.
In the Boys Freshman/Novice race, CK Mao and Charlie Fish finished second, 44 seconds ahead of third place Roman.
In the Boys Freshman 4X, Mani Venkatesh, Aidan Gallagher, Jason Kennedy and Edmund Park also finished in second place, 16 seconds ahead of Springside Chestnut Hill.
In the Varsity races, Malvern dominated with each boat winning their respective heat.
Pat Keenan and Sean Ward won the Lightweight 2x by 18 seconds over Conestoga.
In the boys Varsity 2x, Christian Franck and Andre Quintiliani won their heat by four seconds over Conestoga, and Ben Mankowski and A.J. Wirtel won their heat by eight seconds over Roman.
The Varsity 4x of Johnny McGlinn, Drew Brady, Casey Lauder and Walter Koch won their heat over Haddon Township by almost nine seconds.
Malvern Prep head coach Craig Hoffman said, “This is a good start to our May Championships.”
