Council Rock South sending 14 wrestlers to districts (PHOTO GALLERY)

BRISTOL TWP. – Golden Hawks head coach Brad Silimperi wanted to see as many of his wrestlers advance in the Suburban One National League (SONL) Championships last Saturday at Truman.

It looks like the coach got his wish.

The team champ with 234 points, Council Rock South is sending 14 wrestlers on to districts this Saturday, Feb. 25 at Council Rock North. Winning SONL title belts for the Hawks were Braden Ricchini (113 pounds), Ben Radner (120), Zack Trampe (132), Cary and Riley Palmer (145), Nik Korbich (182) and Joey Doyle (220).

Runner-ups for the Hawks included Max Mendez (106), Rob Cooper (170) and Tyler Gettmann (195). Also earning berths to districts were Eric Woloshyn (3rd, 126), L.J. Kahn (3rd, 152), Cole Flanagan (3rd, 160) and Shane Anderson (4th, 285).

CR North – which took the runner-up trophy with 136 points – has nine wrestlers advancing to districts including SONL champs Luke Lucerne (106) and Nick Nucero (152). Runner-ups for the Indians included Shane Thompson (113), Aidan Burke (120), Cameron Robinson (132), Jacob Shalinsky (138) and Dillon Sheehy (145).

Sophomore Tykee Jackson (3rd, 195) and junior Alec Leyferman (3rd, 285) also made it into districts for CR North.

Harry S Truman is sending five grapplers to districts including sophomore Gunnar Fuss, who earned a title belt with a 3-1 decision win over Neshaminy sophomore Jackson Erb in the 126-pound final.

Truman junior Alex Litz (182) and senior Isaiah Godbold (220) earned runner-up medals for the Tigers and freshman Dan Baskin (4th, 106) and sophomore Joe Goldey (3rd, 138) also advanced.

Neshaminy junior Brock Leinbach and senior Kyle Osterhaut earned SOL championship medals for the Skins and Erb took a runner-up medal. Leinbach decisioned CR South 170-pounder Rob Cooper, 7-6, and Osterhaudt pinned Bensalem heavyweight Nick Cooper in the third period of the 285-pound final.

Sophomores Harry Fornes (3rd, 106), Gus Natelli (4th, 145), Rory Rienzi (4th, 160), and Matthew Soska (4th, 220), freshmen Luke Landman (4th, 132) and Zack Magdelinskas (3rd, 182) along with junior Austin Saba (4th, 138) also advanced to districts for Neshaminy.

Freshman Davis Lee was Pennsbury’s only SONL champ and he had a hard road to get there after posting a 5-4 decision win over Gettman in the 195-pound final. Senior Connor Gowton earned a runner-up medal for the Falcons after dropping a decision to Abington’s Shane Rose in the 160-pound championship.

Freshman Ryan Murphy (3rd, 113), juniors Nick Visco (4th, 120), Antonio Martoccio (4th, 126), Doug Molle (3rd, 132), Shaun Peel (4th, 152) and Max Schummer (4th, 170) along with senior Scott Diethorne (3rd, 220) also advanced to the next round for Pennsbury.
