Sullivan keys OT explosion, sending Springfield past Radnor
It took until overtime for Springfield’s offense to really get humming Friday.
Kyle Sullivan hit a pair of 3-pointers in the extra session as the Cougars erupted for 22 points in overtime of a 71-60 win over Radnor in Central League boys basketball.
Sullivan also tied the game with two free throws with 35 seconds left in regulation. Sullivan and Great Orjih registered 17 points apiece for Springfield (13-9, 9-7). Kyle Long added nine points, five rebounds and three assists. Springfield was 20-for-24 from the line, including 10-for-12 in overtime.
Vernon Harper led Radnor (8-14, 4-12) with 17 points. Mason Ressler chipped in 15.
Penncrest 43, Marple Newtown 28 >> Justin Ross scored 15 points, and Tyler Norwood added 12 as Penncrest (16-6, 12-4) stifled Marple in a must-win game for the Tigers. Penncrest takes on second-seeded Lower Merion in the Central League semis Sunday.
Mark Dever led the way for Marple with 11 points as the Tigers (10-12, 6-10) entered the game 17th in District 1 Class 5A, which admits 16 teams to the playoffs.
Conestoga 71, Garnet Valley 58 >> Austin Laughlin scored 20 points before fouling out as the Jags (14-8, 9-7) fell shy of a bid to qualify for the Central League semifinals. Conestoga sealed the top seed and regular-season title.
Lower Merion 75, Haverford 52 >> Matt Young scored 13 points (after tallying just 15 in the season’s previous 21 games combined), and Trey Blair added a dozen, but the Fords fell.
In the Bicentennial League:
Faith Christian 57, Delco Christian 46 >> Jordan Parks poured in 23 points, but it wasn’t enough for the Knights (12-10, 10-7).
In the Ches-Mont:
Octorara 51, Sun Valley 46 >> Tyler Ungarino scored 14 points and Vinny DeAngelo added 13, but the Braves pulled away late.
