Haverford School swimmers have record-smashing day

It continues to be a record-setting year for the Haverford School swim team.

The Fords broke eight school records in a 105-81 Inter-Ac League boys victory over Malvern Prep Friday.

Alex Boratto set two individual marks and was part of two record-setting relays. Charlie Ryan and Brian Brennan set one individual record and were on two relays that set records. Borrato set the school marks in the 100 (51.51 seconds) and 200 (1:51.87) freestyle events. He teamed with Brennan, T.J. Brooks and John Nelligan to set the record in the 200 freestyle relay (1:35.13).

Boratto, Brennan, Ryan and Nelligan also set the mark 400 freestyle relay (3:33.37).

Ryan won the 100 butterfly in a record time of 56.94 seconds and joined JR Leitz, Antonio Octaviano and Brooks to in a record-setting 200 medley relay win (1:46.72). Ryan also took first in the 100 backstroke.

Brennan also had four wins including the school record in the 50 free (23.84). He also took first in the 400 freestyle.
Octaviano continues to rewrite the record in the 100 breaststroke. He broke the mark for the third time this season with a time of 1:05.76, He also was first in the 200 individual medley.

In nonleague action:

Unionville 109, Garnet Valley 69 >> James Geek, Shane Scudder, Aiden Zipf and Alex Mitchell won the 400 freestyle relay for Garnet Valley’s only victory.

Scudder also took second in the 200 freestyle, while Mitchell was second in the 100 breaststroke in District 1 consideration time of 1:11.71.

Mount Sophie (Del.) 86, Chichester 78 >> Greg Allman and Stephen Haase were double winners for the Eagles. Allman won the 50 freestyle and teamed with Haase, Dace Bell and Brandon Weigand to take first in the 200 freestyle relay. Haase touched the wall first in the 100 backstroke.

Girls Swimming

Noelle DiClemente won one individual event and was on a winning relay team, but Unionville finished first in the rest of the races to beat Garnet Valley in nonleague action, 100-83.

DiClemente won the 400 freestyle in a District 1 automatic qualifying time of 4:42.31. She also led off the winning 400 free relay team that included Anastasia Earley, Alexa Hipp and Lucy Townsend.

Hipp was second in the 200 IM and 100 back. Early place second in the 50 and 100 free and Townsend was second in the 100 butterfly.

Mont Sophie (Del) 90, Chichester 47 >> Cappy Kan claimed Chichester’s only victory with a win in the one-meter diving event (157.15 points).
