PJP’s comeback effort falls short in loss to Agnes Irwin; Souderton defeats OJR
A valiant second-half comeback fell just short for Pope John Paul II as the Golden Panthers fell to Agnes Irwin 46-45 in a non-league contest on Monday night.
Monica Rapchinski led PJP with 20 points, 12 coming in the first half, as PJP stormed back from a nine-point deficit in the final frame only to come up just short of pulling out the win.
Jenna Finley added nine points in the loss.
Freshman guard Katie Anderson led Agnes Irwin with 16 points.
Souderton 51, Owen J. Roberts 37 >> Alana Cardona scored a game-best 14 points to highlight a trio of Big Red players that figured in double-digits as Souderton came away with a non-league win.
To go along with Cardona, Sam Falencki added 11 points with Megan Walbrandt adding 10 in the winning effort.
Souderton’s lead was never in jeopardy as the Big Red opened up a 29-14 lead at the half before extending it to 45-20 after three.
Olivia LeClaire led OJR with 11 points; Camryn Glenn had eight points.
Perkiomen School 26, Kimberton-Waldorf 17 >> Nicolette (Nici) Ciocari led the Panthers with 13 points as Perkiomen School won its home opener.
