Freshman Williams steps up for Chester in win over Sun Valley

The Chester girls basketball team received a boost Tuesday night from freshman Ceyrah Williams, who scored 14 points, grabbed five rebounds and made five steals to lead the Clippers to a 59-41 nonleague victory over Sun Valley.

Myah Phillips posted team highs in points (19) and assists (six) for Chester (2-5). Sho’Deah Kelly tossed in 14 points and Clayshonia Cogman added six points, 10 rebounds and nine steals.

Kate Lannon drilled three 3-point field goals and led all players with 19 points for the Vanguards.

In other nonleague action:

Interboro 47, W.C. East 41 >> Sophomore Amanda Floyd powered the Bucs (5-3) with 15 points and nine rebounds, while Amanda Seamen hit four 3-pointers for 14 points. Gina McNamee added 11 points, 10 boards and six assists.

Bensalem 36, Chichester 31 >> Lauren Carrafa pumped in a team-high 15 points and Erica Brant scored nine for the Eagles (1-4).

In the Catholic League:

Archbishop Carroll 57, Little Flower 18 >> Molly Masciantonio had 12 points and five rebounds to help the Patriots (6-0) stay undefeated. Maggie Pina scored nine points, Bella Sorrentino added eight and Theresa Kearney registered seven points, five rebounds and three assists.

Cardinal O’Hara 82, Conwell-Egan 17 >> All-Delcos Mary Sheehan and Hannah Nihill combined to score 23 of the Lions’ 31 points in the opening quarter. Sheehan finished with 15 points and Nihill had 13 for O’Hara (5-2, 2-0).

Kerry Patterson added 12 points and Emily Helms chipped in nine on three 3-pointers.

Bonner & Prendergast 50, Hallahan 8 >> Nyah Garrison scored 11 points to pace a balanced attack for the Pandas (7-2, 2-1), who led at halftime, 25-2. Caroline Manfre and Alexis Gleason each netted nine points in the win.

In the Bicentennial League:

Jenkintown 43, Christian Academy 32 >> The Crusaders (7-2, 3-1) got to within five points in the fourth quarter, but the visiting Drakes hit their free throws down the stretch to pull away. Britney Dike led TCA with eight points and Lindsay Haseltine contributed seven assists.
