Yancey wins four events as Strath Haven topples Ridley
Oliver Yancey was a quadruple-winner and three other Strath Haven boys swimmers won a trio of events in Wednesday’s 97-83 Central League victory over Ridley.
Yancey contributed to the Panthers’ winning 200 medley and 200 free relays. Elsewhere he was victorious in the 200 individual medley (2:04.60) as well as the 100 breaststroke (1:03.69).
Sean Adams (100 free, 200 free relay, 400 free relay), Will Resweber (500 free, 200 free relay, 400 free relay) and Jake Booth (200 medley relay, 100 backstroke, 400 free relay) each won three races.
Leading the way for the Green Raiders was Alex Boeckx, who grabbed first place in the 200 free and 100 butterfly.
Also in the Central League:
Garnet Valley 105, Penncrest 80 >> Aidan Zipf (100 free, 100 back), Shane Scudder (200 free, 400 free) and Alex Mitchell were all double winners for the Jaguars. Jimmy Greek joined them for wins in the 200 and 400 free relays.
Radnor 93, Upper Darby 82 >> Greg Giannella and Will Cosgrove both won a pair of individual races to lift the Raiders to a close victory over the Royals. Giannella triumphed in the 50 and 100 freestyle races, while Cosgrove touched the wall first in the 200 and 500 freestyle events.
James Vogelsong led the Royals with a victory in the 100 breaststroke. He swam third in UD’s winning 400 free relay.
Haverford 96, Lower Merion 85 >> Colin Pettit was instrumental in the Fords’ win over the Aces, delivering top finishes in the 200 individual medley as well as the 500 free. He also contributed to his team’s winning 200 free relay.
In nonleague meets:
Barrack Hebrew 53, Valley Forge Military Academy 41 >> Eighth-grader Eli Kofman won the 200 individual medley and Ari Cooper was first in the 100 backstroke for the Cougars.
Kennett 108, Chichester 42 >> Chi was unable to win a single race against the Blue Demons.
