Woodton-Hightower tandem powers Academy Park

Mahya Woodton scored 26 points and Shantalay Hightower made five 3-point field goals for 24 points to lead Academy Park to a 73-61 nonleague victory over Sun Valley Tuesday night.

Woodton had six rebounds and five assists to go with her game high in points.

Kate Lannon led the Vanguards (1-1) with 20 points and Claire Howley added 14.

In other nonleague action:

Christian Academy 53, Philadelphia Academy 39 >> Grace Gormley enjoyed a career night with a personal high in points (21) to go with nine assists, nine rebounds and nine steals as the Crusaders (3-0) stayed perfect for the season. Danay Cooks-Green added 14 points and Lindsay Haseltine and Madison Dutton each tossed in eight.

Chichester 43, Avon Grove 36 >> Carli Lanza was 6-for-6 from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter and had four assists to help the Eagles (1-0) win their opener. Erica Brant scored 16 points, Lauren Carrafa added 12 points and Cierra Riggs registered seven points and nine boards.

Phoenixville 38, Interboro 35 >> Gina McNamee scored 12 points for the Bucs (1-2).

In the Inter-Ac League:

Episcopal Academy 56, Germantown Academy 49 >> The Churchwomen knocked off the defending Inter-Ac champs thanks in part to Seanna McNamara’s career-high 23 points. She also had seven rebounds.

Luca Mamula finished with 14 points and four steals, while Reilly Wright netted 10 points for EA (4-1, 2-0).

Notre Dame 50, Agnes Irwin 23 >> Casey Walsh tossed in 14 points and Jill Kane hit three 3-pointers for 11 points as the Irish (2-1) cruised past the Owls. Mandy McGurk contributed 10 points.
