DLN-AREA VOLLEYBALL: Great Valley clinches second straight American Division crown
Great Valley clinched its second straight Ches-Mont League American Division volleyball championship Wednesday with a 3-0 victory over Sun Valley by scores of 25-10, 25-11, 25-17.
The Patriots finished at 9-4, one game ahead of West Chester Rustin.
Seniors Aimee Christen, Abby Daniels, Julia Stilwell, Haley Murphy, Danielle DiSciullo and Mackenzie Farrelly played well to contribute to the victory.
Avon Grove 3, West Chester East 0 >> Julia Crabtree had 11 kills and 11 digs as the Red Devils (11-2, 20-2) won the Ches-Mont National match, 25-10, 25-19. Chloee Kleespies added 14 kills, Liz Hadly had four kills and three blocks. Emily McCann registered 13 assists and Ayanna Turner notched four aces and seven digs.
For the Vikings, Ali Ward had seven kills and five digs and Taylor Crawford dished out 12 assists.
bishop shanahan 3, Sun Valley 0 >> The Eagles finished the regular season a perfect 13-0 in the Ches-Mont and 18-0 overall with a 25-11, 25-19, 25-18 Ches-Mont victory. Seniors Alexa Marcum had eight Kills, three aces and 13 digs, Logan Wybranski had seven digs and Jenna Losito recorded 15 digs.
Villa Maria 3, Mount St. Joseph 2 >> The Hurricanes (13-7) eked out a five-set victory in the AACA final for its fourth straight league championship. They won, 30-28, 14-25, 21-25, 25-22, 15-12. Shannon Thomas led Villa with 50 assists, 18 digs and three aces. Erin Zimmerman and Carly Ostrowski had 18 kills each. Molly Dunfee added 28 digs.
Downingtown East 3, West Chester Henderson 1 >> Jasmine Ferrence had 17 kills and 16 digs as the Cougars (11-2, 17-5) captured the Ches-Mont National match, 28-8, 25-17, 17-25, 25-19. 28-8. Christine Layden added one kill, one dig and five aces, Kelly Cherry two assists, one kill, one ace and 22 digs, Clare Long six kills, 10 digs, five aces and one block and Shannon Frank had nine digs, seven assists and one assist.
For the Warriord, Fiona Pyfer had 18 kills, Allie Tench added 11 kills and 20 digs and Allie Deabreu dished out 34 assists.
Oxford 3, Penn Wood 0 >> The Hornets captured the nonleague match, 25-16, 25-11, 25-9 as Julianna Huggard had nine kills, Logan Wolfe had four blocks and 16 digs, Nicole Scott had five aces and Maddie Hamilton notched 15 assists.
