Owen J. Roberts sweeps City Cross Country Championships
With girls’ winner Ally Brunton leading the way, the Owen J. Roberts cross country teams were the champions of the cross country City Championships Friday morning at Warwick Park.
The Hill School’s Xavier Friel was the winner of the boys’ race in 10:39, ahead of Pottsgrove’s Mike Neeson (10:46) and Hill’s Tucker Dunn (10:48). OJR’s Conor Murray placed fourth (10:59), which helped the Wildcats to the narrow team win. OJR’s 34 bested Pottsgrove’s 44 and Hill’s 58.
Pottsgrove’s Cole Goldcamp placed fifth and was followed to the finish by five straight Wildcats, Kyle Malmstrom and Andrew Malmstrom leading that way.
Pack mentality worked for the OJR girls as well – the first nine finishers were Wildcats.
Brunton was followed by Mary Bernotas, Autumn Sands, Alex Glasier and Mikayla Niness in the top 5.
Pottstown’s top boys finisher was Khalif Burgess (11:58).
On the girls’ side, Hill was led by Paige Barcus, Pottstown’s top finisher was Yuliza Cruz and Chloe Sullivan was top for Pottsgrove.
