DLN AREA GOLF ROUNDUP: WC East wins opening match of season

The West Chester East golf team opened its season with a 214-245 win against Coatesville Tuesday at Downingtown Country Club.
East sophomore Cole Shew led all scorers with a 5-over-par 41, includin

g an eagle 3 on the par 5 eighth hole. Other leading scorers for East were Sofia Amoroso (42), PJ DiTiero (43), Donovan Tate (44) and Jack Haywood (44). Tate and Haywood each recorded a birdie. For Coatesville, the leading scorers were Jake Tury (47) and Sean Kaiser (48).

Bishop Shanahan 196, West Chester Henderson 215 >> Shanahan had three golfers break 40 for nine holes at Downingtown County Club en route to the victory. For Shanahan, junior Dylan Sterlacci led the scoring with a 1-over-par 37, Ryan Conners and Joe Juliana each tallied a 3-over-par 39, Pat Nulty had a 40 and Anthony Repetto rounded out Shanahan’s scoring with a 41. For Henderson, Pat Muth and Natalie Jacobs each scored 42.

Unionville 180, Oxford 237 >> Unionville earned a decisive win Tuesday at Wyncote Golf Club, as Nick Gianelos led the winners with a 2-under-par 34. Other Unionville leading scorers were Rourke Dillon (36), Jon Passarello (36), Richie Kline (37) and Jack McCloskey (37). For Oxford (1-2 overall, 0-1 league), Chuckie Sisler led the way with a 39.

Great Valley 209, Octorara 260 >> Great Valley rolled to a solid win Tuesday at Chester Valley GC, led by junior Liam Ward (38), senior Stephen Borst (39) and junior Connor Malloy (42). For Octorara, the leading scorers were Hunter King (41) and Nick Myers (42).

Kennett 214, West Chester Rustin 225 >> Kennett’s Evan Brown led all scorers with a 1-over-par 37 at Hartefeld Golf Club Tuesday. Jake Kalscheur helped the Kennett cause with a 39. Rustin was led by Luke Shevlin (38) and Ryan Wagner (40).

Downingtown East 185, Avon Grove 199 >> Downingtown East won its opener at Honeybrook Golf Club, as Nicky Marrollo birdied the first hole and then recorded eight straight pars for a 1-under 34. Wills Montgomery overcame two 3-putts with a birdie on the final hole for his even par round.
