Armstrong pitches Hill past Blair in MAPL season finale
The Hill School baseball team got outstanding pitching from Jeff Armstrong in shutting out host Blair Academy 4-0 in the final Mid-Atlantic Prep League game of the spring on Saturday afternoon.
Armstrong scattered six hits and struck out three over seven innings, working out of two bases loaded jams. Jack Hogan went 2-for-3 and drove in Nick Chroscinski twice.
Panthers drop twinbill >> Josh Cruz and Levi Stoudt compiled two hits apiece on the afternoon as Perkiomen School dropped a non-league double header against Malvern Prep.
The Friars won the opener, 3-2 in eight innings, then closed the day with a five-inning 14-4 rout of the Panthers.
Stoudt was strong on the mound in the opener, delivering seven quality innings where he was touched for two runs on six hits while striking out nine. Cruz took the loss in the bottom of the eighth, where he could only get one out before a run crossed.
Christian Del Toro and Stoudt (three RBIs) each knocked a double in the second game after Malvern scored 13 runs in the opening three innings.
