Shipley lacrosse team battles in loss to ANC
The Shipley School boys’ lacrosse team (8-7, 3-1) lost to Academy of the New Church, 12-10, Monday.
Shipley head coach Mark Duncan said, “The boys had a taste of what was needed to be done to win the FSL Championship, playing one of the top-ranked schools in the region. We are almost there. We’re getting healthy – some of our people were very sick today and we still powered through – warrior nods to Trevor (Green) and Chad (Allison). Some bad penalties and turnovers got us in the hole.”
The Gators jumped to a 7-1 lead in the first half.
Duncan said, “If we play four quarters, we can beat anyone. We have yet to see that, and I look forward to this week – seeing us get better.”
Gator standouts included Chad Allison (two goals, three assists), Tate Gallagher (two goals, two assists), Frank Campanale (two goals, two assists), Amir Fluellen (three goals), Nick Gonzalez (seven ground balls), Nick Yi (one goal, standout work on faceoffs) and Colton Gallo (16 saves, “including some great 1v1 saves” according to Duncan).
