Shipley defeated Friends Select, 3-2, Thursday. Shipley head coach Shannon Hazell said, “This was a very tight match that could have gone either way. The match all came down to second singles, with freshman Max Homans, playing a 6-foot-4 giant who serve and volleyed everything and came to net on almost every ball. It took Max a while to settle and figure out a strategy along with keeping his composure. Ultimately Max’s skill, patience and cool demeanor won the match for him and the team.”
