Main Line lacrosse roundup: Baldwin, Harriton girls victorious
The Shipley School boys’ lacrosse team (7-5, 2-0) had some solid performances in a 15-13 loss to Fordham Prep April 30. The Gators were led by Tate Gallagher (six goals, one assist), Nick Yi (two goals, five ground balls), Pete Moeller (two goals), Amir Fluellen (one goal, one assist), Griff Gallagher (one goal, one assist), Chad Allison (one goal, one assist), Frank Campanale (two assists), Nick Gonzalez (six ground balls) and Colton Gallo (13 saves).
Two days earlier, Shipley defeated Moorestown Friends, 18-5, led by Tate Galagher (three goals, three assists), Chad Allison (three goals, one assist), Pete Moeller (three goals), Nick Yi (one goal, one assist), Amir Fluellen (three goals), Nick Gonzalez (two goals), Griff Gallagher (two goals), Frank Campanale (one goal, five assists) and Colton Gallo (10 saves).

Agnes Irwin defeated rival Episcopal Academy to 7-6 in overtime April 29 to force a tie at the top of the InterAc. The Owls (11-4, 6-1) avenged an early season loss to the Churchmen and handed EA their first conference loss of the season when Kristin Burnetta fired home a pass from Lila Barker with six seconds left on the clock in the sudden death overtime. Burnetta had hat trick in the game and has also caused a key turn over in the extra frame and fellow senior Kate White scooped up the ground ball to give AIS their final possession. The Agnes Irwin defense of White, Sarah Platt, Alicia O’Neil, Brynn Smith, Emma Macaione and goalie, Hailey Andress allowed just one goal in the second half. EA employed a very successful stall strategy for most of the game but , AIS was able to cause eight turnovers, led by eighth grader Natalie Pansini with four.
Academy of Notre Dame defeated Germantown Academy, 14-10, April 29, led by Caroline Allen (three goals, one assist, two ground balls, two caused turnovers, four draw controls), Julia Dambly (two goals, one assist, one caused turnover), Claire Nappi (one goal, six ground balls, one caused turnover, one draw control), Kelly Coyle (two goals, one assist, three ground balls, one draw control), Makenzie Irvine (two goals, two ground balls), Madison Chermol (one goal, one assist, one ground ball), Natalie Hughes (one goal, three ground balls, one caused turnover), Maggie O’Brien (two goals, five ground balls, two draw controls) and Jackie Lanzalotto (six saves).
Episcopal Academy (boys) defeated Penn Charter, 8-7, April 29. The Churchmen (5-8, 4-2) were led by Jake Martellucci (three goals), Benjamin Valdes (three goals), Gab Furey (one goal, one assist), Connor Delaney (one goal), Connor Ringwalt (two assists) and Jake Floyd Jones (six saves).
Baldwin School defeated Westtown, 17-3, April 28. Harriton (girls) lost to Archbishop Carroll, 12-10, April 30, fighting back from a 7-2 halftime deficit. Ram leaders included Alex Ladda (two goals), Laura Lasprogata (three goals), Greta Stahl (two goals, three assists, 14 draw controls), Molly McDonough (two goals), Claudia Conrad (one goal) and Devin McClain (six saves).
Two days earlier, the Rams jumped out to 7-1 lead early and 14-7 lead at halftime and defeated host Haverford 19-11 for a Central League win. Leaders for Harriton included Alex Ladda (five goals), Laura Lasprogata (eight goals, one assist, eight draw controls), Greta Stahl (three goals, one assist, 14 draw controls), Jordan Heller (one goal), Molly McDonough (two goals), and Devin McClain (six saves). Malvern Prep defeated Strath Haven, 14-8, April 29, led by Billy Coyle (one assist), Kyle Anderson (three goals, two assists), Adam Goldner (one goal, one assist), Mike Fay (one goal, one assist), Jack Traynor (two goals), Zach White (two goals, one assist), Quinn McCahon (three goals), Joe Bendinelli (one goal), Ray Baron (one assist), Zach Fernandez (one assist), Sean Christman (one goal, one assist, won 21 of 27 face offs) and Sam Stroud (nine saves).
