Main Line baseball roundup: Malvern Prep defeats Haverford School
The Malvern Prep baseball squad defeated Haverford School, 13-3, in six innings April 29. Brady Devereux was the winning pitcher as he went 4.1 innings allowing two runs and striking out three. Matt Daller opened up the scoring with a two-run single in the second. Cam Williams continued his hot streak at the plate going 3-for-4 with three RBIs. Sean Flynn also added three RBIs for Malvern on two hits including the game-ender in the sixth to force the 10-run rule. Matt Daller had three RBIs as well. Jake Mullan added two RBIs on two hits and Chance DiFebbo and Will Burgess had an RBI each. Malvern improved its record to 18-2 overall (5-1 Inter-Ac).
The followng day, Malvern Prep lost to Maryland powerhouse Calvert Hall, 3-1. Jalen Wade got the start and allowed no runs. Matt Daller had the only Malvern RBI in the sixth inning and Cam Williams scored.
The Friars fell to Episcopal Academy, 6-5, April 27. Offensively, Cam Williams led the way for Malvern going 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored. Also adding an RBI was Chance DiFebbo, Will Burgess, Matt Daller, and Nick Li. Vince Sposato went 2-for-3 with a double. Malvern falls to 17-2 (4-1).
Conestoga suffered its third loss of the season, falling to Haverford School 8-4 April 30. Matt Heron and Nick Falcone had two hits for the Pioneers. Percy Mottley had all four of Conestoga’s RBIs by slugging a grand slam in the fourth inning.
The Pioneers suffered a 1-0 loss to Springfield April 27. Tim Miller and Percy Mottley had two hits apiece for the Pioneers.
