Mercury Area Softball Roundup: Phoenixville tops Methacton in rain-shortened contest; West-Mont Christian tops Perk School
Phoenixville 1, Methacton 0 >> Jess Eldridge tossed 5-1/3 innings before rain and lightning cut the Pioneer Athletic Conference game short, giving the Phantoms (4-7) the one-run victory.
Eldridge allowed one hit and struck out four in earning the win. Katie Rutledge knocked in Lainey Michaud for the game’s only run in the top half of the second.
West-Mont Christian 3, Perkiomen School 2 >> Julia Miller pitched eight innings, allowing six hits and striking out seven as the Wings topped Perk in extras via a walk-off double steal.
Grace Flynn scored the game-winning run, stealing home with runners on first and third in the bottom of the eighth. Flynn finished with an RBI and a double in the win.
Julianne Haussmann took the loss in the circle despite a strong effort, tossing all eight innings while allowing two hits and recording seven strikeouts.
