Whitaker, O’Brien send Springfield past Garnet Valley
Bridget Whitaker scored the go-ahead goal in the second half as Springfield defeated reigning two-time PIAA champion Garnet Valley, 8-6.
Bailey O’Brien had two of her three tallies after halftime. Julianne Clemens was remarkable in net for the Cougars (8-1, 3-1) with 13 saves.
Riley Delaney and Kara Nakrasius led GV with two goals each.
Strath Haven 19, Upper Darby 1 >> Kacy Hafertepe netted four goals and Carly Glassford and Sophie Haas each recorded hat tricks for the Panthers. J.P. Gallagher had the lone goal for UD.
Harriton 9, Ridley 7 >> Emily Johnston (five goals) did everything she could to help the Green Raiders pull off an upset of the Rams. Desi George added a goal and two assists.
Penncrest 13, Lower Merion 4 >> Kayla Allen and Logan O’Donnell produced four goals apiece to lead the Lions. Corryn Gamber made seven saves in goal.
Conestoga 14, Marple Newtown 4 >> Megan Lynch scored twice, but the Tigers were no match for the unbeaten Pioneers (7-0).
In the Del Val League:
Interboro 14, Penn Wood 0 >> Marissa Hews recorded a hat trick and Steph McCool chipped in with two goals and three assists for the Bucs, who received solid goalkeeping from Moriah Marr and Jazz Spencer, each of whom made three saves.
In the Bicentennial League:
Delco Christian 17, Lower Moreland 5 >> Jessica Freeman powered the Knights with five goals, while Claudia Norton and Emma Ellsworth (one assist) each finished with four. Goalie Jillian Orlandini made eight saves.
In the Inter-Ac League:
Episcopal Academy 15, Penn Charter 6 >> Julia Hondros had four goals and one assist, Colby Gallagher netted three goals and Katie Crager added two goals and an assist for the Churchwomen. Sydney Gagnon stopped nine shots in goal.
Agnes Irwin 15, Lincoln-Sudbury 4 >> Behind Laura Pansini’s four goals and one assist, the Owls routed New England powerhouse Lincoln-Sudbury.
