Gerzabek, stifling defense help Springfield upset Garnet Valley
Mike Gerzabek scored four goals to go with two assists, Joe DeBernardi and Mike Vent tallied twice each and Kyle Long scored and set up three goals as Springfield pulled an upset over Central League front-running Garnet Valley with a 10-5 decision.
Jacob Buttermore scored two goals and Matt Moore added two assists, but Springfield’s defensive effort led by Pat Smyth kept Garnet Valley (5-3, 4-1) at bay to open the gates to the Central League title race.
James Spence was outstanding with 13 saves for Springfield (4-5, 2-3).

Penncrest 11, Lower Merion 2 >> Alex Bonnett celebrated Senior Night with five goals and two assists, Max Daugherty tallied a hat trick and Ryan Kinnard scored twice for the Lions (7-1, 4-1).
Strath Haven 19, Upper Darby 1 >> Tyler Fink scored six goals, and Jake Ross paired five goals with two assists as the Panthers (9-0, 5-0) scored 11 goals in the first quarter.
Harriton 7, Ridley 6 >> Brock Anderson registered a hat trick, Cade Stratton paired two goals with two assists and Brandon Risely made 10 saves, but he couldn’t prevent the Green Raiders (5-5, 1-3) from falling to a fourth straight defeat.
Conestoga 11, Marple Newtown 6 >> Alex Funk scored twice, and Tyler Kostack and Alex Viola each paired a goal with two assists, but Marple (5-5, 0-5) never recovered from a 7-2 deficit at halftime.
In the Inter-Ac League:
Haverford School 12, Penn Charter 5 >> Johnny Nostrant scored three goals to go with an assist, and Keyveat Postell, Alec Haas and Max Brooks tallied twice apiece as the Fords (9-3, 3-0) rolled. Alex DeMarco made 10 saves in net.
