Penncrest’s big bats bludgeon Radnor
Penncrest sluggers Olivia Rigby and Julia Eckels wielded big bats Monday in a Central League game.
Rigby was 2 for 3 with a homer, double, three RBIs and two runs scored as the Lions claimed a 7-1 win over Radnor.
Rigby’s homer drove in Victoria Reed (2 for 3, double) and highlighted Penncrest’s four-run second inning. Julia Eckels went 3 for 4 with a double and four RBIs.
The Lions churned out 11 hits in support of their winning pitcher, Maya Hartman, who went the distance.
Strath Haven 9, Marple Newtown 7 >> Malia Calciano, who pitched the win, was 3 for 4 with three RBIs for the Panthers, who grabbed the lead with three runs in the top of the seventh. Sophie Bolinger had two hits, including a double, for Haven.
Sarah Meier and Caitlyn Spencer each had a triple for the Tigers.
Ridley 8, Haverford 0 >> Leigh Ann Jenkins dominated from the circle and Ridley received three-hit performances by Julia Buckley and Ashley Shanks.
The All-Delco Jenkins twirled a two-hit shutout with three strikeouts. Buckley and Shanks went 3 for 4 to pace the Ridley bats.
Springfield 9, Harriton 0 >> All-Delco Tori DePietro tossed a shutout with eight strikeouts and helped her cause with three hits and four RBIs. Jenna Casasanto (double, two runs), Nikki DePietro (triple, 2 RBIs) and Ashley Scarpato (two RBIs) each had two hits for the Cougars (5-0, 5-0).
In the Ches-Mont League:
Great Valley 10, Sun Valley 0 >> Amber Michael had the Vanguards’ only hit off Great Valley pitcher Megan Orlowski (six strikeouts).
In the Bicentennial League:
Calvary Christian 12, Delco Christian 2 >> The Knights (0-4) managed six hits, but not much to show on the scoreboard.
In nonleague action:
Archbishop Carroll 5, Agnes Irwin 4 >> Shannon Lloyd homered for the Patriots. Julia Weimer and Abby Wick each had a triple.
Michala Maciolek homered and drove in four runs for the Owls.
Friends Select 4, Academy Park 0 >> Dana Goodyear, Kaleigh Cervino and Jade Armstrong all singled for the Knights.
