Collier is golden as Penncrest girls cruise
Alicia Collier won the 100-meter and 200-meter races and anchored the first-place 4×400 relay as Penncrest defeated Haverford, 84-66, and tied Lower Merion, 75-75, Wednesday in Central League girls track.
Sadie Gold (1600, 3200) and Caleigh Gray (100 hurdles, pole vault) were Haverford’s double winners.
Strath Haven wins two >> Maura Gibbs (long jump, high jump) and Rachel Vresilovic (discus, javelin) each claimed two events to help the Panthers run their Central League win streak to 59. Strath Haven defeated Marple Newtown, 136-14, and Conestoga, 125-25. Marple Newtown edged Conestoga, 61-60.
Ridley claims two >> Izzy Hamlin bested the competition in the shot put and discus throws to help the Green Raiders to wins over Upper Darby, 83.5-65.5, and Springfield, 135-9.
Jess Higgins was a double winner in the long distance races for Ridley.
Upper Darby beat Springfield, 103.5-38.5. The Royals received a double-winning performance from Michelle Brown in the 100 and 200 meters.
In the Del Val League:
Chester 78, Interboro 62 >> Danayzah Fitzgerald played a role in four wins (100, 200, 4×100, 4×400) and Nakayla Carter swept the hurdles events for the Clippers. Angel McBride crossed the finish line first in the 400 and triple jump, while anchoring the Clippers’ winning 4×400.
Penn Wood 103, Chichester 23 >> Agnes Mansaray raced to first-place finishes in the mile and 800-meter dash for the winning Patriots. Joy Morton swept three field events (shot put, discus, javelin) and Janae Pitt was victorious in the 100 hurdles and triple jump.
Nierra Berry of Chichester grabbed wins in the 100 and long jump.
