Boys Lacrosse: Five players to watch
Keyveat Postell, Haverford School: The senior midfielder and Penn commit scored 15 goals last season, waiting his turn behind the Fords’ tremendous depth. After a strong football season for the unbeaten Fords last fall, the exemplary athleticism of the 6-foot-2 wide receiver is obvious, and with the void left by last year’s departures, Postell could assume a large role.
Gabriel Furey, Episcopal Academy: With the Central League possessing so many returning attacking talents, few fly under the radar. The EA freshman Furey, on the other hand, enters high school highly-regarded. Replacing Curtis Zappala from the attack is a major task, but Furey could have a big hand in making that happen.
Hunter Mazur, Strath Haven: The Army commit is just a junior, but he’s been sharing duties at the faceoff X since his freshman campaign. Already a clear talent on draws, Mazur’s ability to generate easy goals in transition, for himself and teammates, represents a major strength for the Panthers.
Ryan Schultz, Penncrest: His defensive mate, Ryan Granger, gets most of the attention, but the defensive triumvirate of those two and junior Zack Kaut has the chance to comprise one of the area’s stingiest units. The depth of talent across the line gives Schultz, a Widener commit, and his teammates the free rein to be aggressive.
Michael Bonaddio, Garnet Valley: In his third year on the job, the senior goaltender could blossom into one of the area’s best. He’s already displayed the ability to steal games for the Jaguars, and the defensive continuity from last year for the defending Central League co-champs bodes well for Bonaddio.
