DLN Boys Swimming All-Area: The 2015-16 DLN All-Area Team

First Team
Justin Carey, Sr., Avon Grove
The senior finished fourth in the PIAA Class AAA Swimming and Diving Championships in the 100-yard backstroke. He fifth in the 100 butterfly. At the District 1 Class AAA meet, Carey was second in the 100 fly and the 100 back. He was also a key figure for the Red Devils as they tied for the Ches-Mont League National Division championship.

Will Schaffer, Sr., Malvern Prep
The senior recorded a third-place finish in the 100 breaststroke and fourth in the 100 backstroke at the Eastern Prep Championships. He was also part of the 200 medley relay team that finished third. Schaffer earned All-America status.

Aaron Salinas, Sr., Malvern Prep
The senior was fourth in the 100 breaststroke at Easterns, earning him All-America status. He also scored keyed points as the Friars won the Inter-Ac championships and finished fourth as a team at Easterns.

Billy Beard, Sr. Malvern Prep
The senior was fifth in the 100 freestyle at Easterns and was an All-American. Beard won the 100 free at the National Catholic meet. And was third in the 200 free. He also won the 100 free at the Inter-Ac Champiuonship.

Tom Powell, Jr., Bishop Shanahan
The junior won the B final in the 500 free at the PIAA Class AA meet at Bucknell. He was 11th in the 200 free. Powell was also third in the 200 free and the 500 free at the District 1 Class AA meet.

Cruz Buitron, Fr., Westtown
Buitron’s successful first season culminated in a school record in the 100 butterfly in the Eastern Championships. He finished sixth for the Moose.

Brendan Burns, Fr., Conestoga
The freshman had a very successful first PIAA meet. He won the B final in the 100 backstroke after finishing third in the event at the district meet. He also placed third at states in the 1oo butterfly. He won the same event at districts in a time of 50.08.

Matt Magness, Fr., Unionville
The freshman placed fifth in the 500 free at the PIAA meet. He was second in the 500 free at the District 1 meet and eighth in the 200 free.
