Main Line squads well-represented in PIAA District One basketball playoff seedings
The Main Line is well-represented in the PIAA District One basketball playoff brackets. While the brackets were announced on Sunday morning, they did not become official until noon Monday.
In the boys’ Class AAAA bracket that starts on Friday night at 7 p.m., Lower Merion earned the 11th seed and will host Penn Wood, while Radnor earned the 31st seed and will travel to No. 2 seed Plymouth Whitemarsh.
In the girls Class AAAA bracket that starts on Saturday afternoon at 1:30, Harriton earned the 21st seed and will travel to 12th seeded Downingtown East. The two teams faced off earlier this season with the Cougars emerging with the win.
Haverford (No. 25 seed) will travel to Central Bucks South (No. 28 seed) while Radnor (No. 31 seed) travels to Mount St. Joseph’s (No. 4 seed).
With the Conestoga boys and girls teams earning home games, the school announced a doubleheader will be played on Friday night starting with the girls at 5:30 p.m. The seventh seeded Pioneers host 26th seeded Unionville with the boys, who earned the 14th seed tipping off at 7 p.m. against 19th seeded Great Valley.
In the girls Class AAA bracket which starts Feb 16, Merion Mercy earned the No. 2 seed which gives them a first round bye. The Bears will await the winner of the Nazareth- Sun Valley contest. Villa Maria earned the No. 6 seed and will face No. 11 seed Upper Moreland with the winner taking on No. 3 seed Lower Moreland, who also received a first round bye.
